Attic Insulation

Central Indiana attics take a beating: 90°F+ in summer, below freezing in winter. Whether we spray the attic floor to create a traditional vented attic or the roof deck to create a conditioned space, you'll feel the difference on your next energy bill. We handle the walk-through, masking, spray, trimming, and cleanup.

  • Reduce heating and cooling costs immediately
  • Prevent ice dams in winter
  • Create usable conditioned attic space
  • Stop air leakage and drafts at the source

Your attic is the single biggest source of energy loss in most Indiana homes. Hot air rises, and without proper insulation and air sealing, it escapes straight through the roof — driving up heating costs in winter and forcing your AC to work overtime in summer.

Spray foam insulation solves both problems at once. Unlike fiberglass batts that leave gaps around rafters, wiring, and plumbing, spray foam expands to seal every crack and cavity. The result is a continuous air barrier that keeps conditioned air where it belongs.

We offer two approaches for attic insulation. Open-cell foam sprayed on the attic floor creates a traditional vented attic — this is the most cost-effective option for homes that don't need conditioned attic space. Open-cell foam sprayed on the roof deck creates a conditioned attic, turning the space into usable square footage and protecting ductwork from extreme temperatures.

Current Indiana energy code calls for R-49 in attics. Open-cell foam at 8–10 inches achieves R-29 to R-36, and at 14 inches reaches R-49+. Closed-cell at 3–4 inches provides R-19.5 to R-26 with added moisture protection for roof decks prone to ice damming.

Open-cell attic insulation starts at $0.35–0.45 per board foot. Use our cost calculator for a quick estimate, or call for a free assessment of your attic.

Attic spray foam options in Indiana homes

Most attic insulation calls start with the same symptoms: upstairs rooms that run hot, winter heat loss, ice dams, dusty air leaks, or ductwork sitting in an attic that swings from freezing to extreme summer heat. The right attic spray foam scope depends on whether the attic should stay vented or become part of the conditioned space.

For a vented attic, insulation usually belongs at the attic floor after air leaks are sealed. For a conditioned attic, foam goes at the roof deck so the ductwork, mechanical equipment, and storage area are no longer sitting outside the thermal envelope.

  • Attic floor foam for vented attic assemblies
  • Roof deck foam for conditioned attic space
  • Air sealing around penetrations, knee walls, and bypasses
  • Open-cell or closed-cell selected by roof and moisture conditions

What affects attic insulation cost

Attic spray foam pricing changes with square footage, thickness, access, whether old insulation needs to be moved or removed, and whether the work is at the floor, rafters, roof deck, or knee walls. A clean open attic is different from a tight older Noblesville or Indianapolis attic with wiring, can lights, duct runs, and low roof clearances.

We quote the scope after seeing the space because the cheapest inch price is not always the cheapest finished job. The target is enough insulation and air sealing to solve the comfort problem without selling foam where it does not belong.

  • R-value target and foam thickness
  • Attic access and roof geometry
  • Old insulation, dust, and prep work
  • Ductwork or equipment inside the attic
